Flowers & a Camel

A Camel painted in PanPastels and some pen & Ink added.
I thought I'd like to try the combination of mediums, and it worked quite well.
The Camel was painted for Wet Canvas, Animal & Wildlife May Challenge

Calla Lilies in watercolor and Inktense pencils.  I loved the bright pink color of these lilies.
This painting was painted for the Wet Canvas Floral Forum's May 2017 Challenge

Bright tulip

A tulip done for the "Bright Flower Challenge" for the PaintMyPhoto Website.

This was rendered in PanPastels and soft pastels.

Painted for the Wet Canvas Animal & Wildlife Forum March Challenge

This was completed using PanPastels on Mi-Teintes paper.
I wanted to see how much of the pastel painting I could do using just Pans, and was able to complete most of it.  I added a little pastel pencil to strengthen the edges of some of the  rose petals, as I was finishing the painting.  Quite pleased with the way it turned out.

Plum Headed Parrots in PanPastels & pen and ink

I wanted to try pen & ink work with PanPastels.  Wasn't sure how this would develop, but as Pans can look semi-transparent, it turned out ok.  Does seem to have a watercolor effect with it, but no watercolor was used - all PanPastels and pen & ink.  PanPastels are so versatile!  You can use them with all sorts of different media!  I quite liked the effect, I've achieved and will definitely try the technique again.

A bridge over the Arrow River at Arrowtown New Zealand.
The beautiful, peaceful place, has a circular Walking Track, on both sides of the river. 
In the middle of Summer at peak holiday time, the track is very busy with people walking dogs, riding bikes, running pushing babies in push-chairs - a truly lovely, tranquil place to be.

PanPastels and soft pastels on Blue Colorfix Paper

"Morning Glory" blue flower

This was painted for the Wet Canvas Floral Forum's September Plant Parade

"Morning Glory" flower  -  20cm x 20cm  -   PanPastels, soft Pastels & pastel pencils on pale gold, Mi-Teintes paper

I wanted to leave the colour of the Mi-Teintes paper showing through, as it was a nice complementary color to the vivid blue Morning Glory flowers.

A Lilac-breasted Roller bird

This is the little "Lilac-breasted Roller bird".

I wanted to try my PanPastels on Watercolor paper to see how they looked. And they worked well.
I've only ever used them on either Mi-Teintes of sanded Colorfix paper, but I liked the look of them on Watercolor paper.  I laid on the pastels as I would with Watercolor - going from light to dark to take advantage of the semi-transparent look that can be achieved with PanPastels.

My Award winning "Sunset Sky" pastel painting

This is my PanPastel painting with which I won the "Supreme" Award in Southern Pastel Artists 2016 Awards Exhibition recently.
This same painting won the PaintMyPhoto August "Sky" Challenge.
